The Chiteren are inhabitants of Sheragul. A vast swamp region. Ferocious fighters with a ravenous appetite, they are dark, cruel and generally dormant. Mostly attuned inward to their World Mother, they can go decades without stirring burrowed under mangrove roots using air holes carved up through tree centers.
If you are unfortunate to be in the right place when the waters recede enough, thousands of death masks can be seen floating just above the surface of the water.

Wings to small to fly, serve a far more sinister purpose. Direct and spread psychotropic phermones to lull you into a submissive panic.
Their limbs are morning stars dripping a poison black ichor.
Colored eyes are prized among the Chiteren. They give visions, open doorways, and are a little gamey.

Once the gold bloods tried to stake their claim in vast Sheragul. The Chiteren never ate so well.
Their aggression relentless.
Their devotion is absolute.
Mother is god to a child. Their mother, is a World Mother. And she is the dark.
